Marangu Day Trip – Waterfalls and Village Tour

Itinerary

Morning Departure: Depart from your accommodation in Moshi or Arusha after an early breakfast. The journey to Marangu takes approximately 1 to 2 hours, depending on your starting location.

Visit to Marangu Gate: Your first stop will be the Marangu Gate, the entry point for those embarking on the Marangu Route to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Learn about the history of the gate and the experiences of climbers who pass through it.

Waterfall Hike: Next, enjoy a hike to the beautiful Marangu waterfalls. The trail takes you through lush greenery and offers spectacular views of the surrounding landscapes. The waterfalls provide a perfect backdrop for some memorable photos.

Packed Lunch: Enjoy a packed lunch by the waterfalls, surrounded by the serene sounds of nature.

Village Tour: After lunch, explore the Marangu village. Visit a local Chagga house to learn about the traditional lifestyle and customs of the Chagga people. You’ll also have the chance to see how local coffee is grown and processed.

Cultural Experience: Experience the rich culture of the Chagga people by visiting a local museum and a traditional Chagga cave. Learn about the history and heritage of the region, and perhaps even enjoy a cultural performance if available.

Return Journey: In the late afternoon, depart from Marangu and return to your accommodation in Moshi or Arusha, bringing a day filled with beautiful sights and cultural insights to a close.
